U.S. Heavy Cruisers in Action, Part 1

U.S. Heavy Cruisers in Action, Part 1 -- Designed around restrictions imposed by the 1921 Washington Naval Treaty, heavy cruisers were limited to 10,000 tons displacement, with a main armament of eight-inch guns. The US completed 17 heavy cruisers between 1929 and 1937, six of which were sunk during WWII. The U.S. was forced to rely heavily on these ships during the war to make up for the loss of several battleships in the Pearl Harbor attack. Warship expert Adcock relates the history these treaty heavy cruisers.
