McDonnell Douglas: Douglas Aircraft 1920-1997

McDonnell Douglas: Douglas Aircraft 1920-1997 -- When first published in 1979, this reference was acclaimed as an important contribution to aviation history and one of the most comprehensive of all of the Putnam manufacturing series. Now completely revised, this first volume of the two-volume series covers Douglas aircraft from their beginnings in 1920s Los Angeles up to the merger with and McDonnell Aircraft Corporation in 1967. Among the aircraft discussed are the first Douglas transport, the Cloudster, the world cruisers that made the first flights around the earth, the DC-1, DC-2, and DC-3, and such World War II combatants as the SBD Dauntless dive bombers and the Devastator and Boston series. Postwar jet aircraft included are the DC-8, DC-9, and DC-10 and the Skyray, Skyhawk, and Skylancer. (See page 49 for other books in the Putnam Aviation series)
