Far from the editorial elite and the daily sound bites we deal directly with the issues of the heart. The book begins with one of the last interviews with 'The Intimidator' Dale Earnhardt. From his story 'Please Don't Quit' Dale encourages children to not only stay in school but to consider the ramifications of not following parental guidance. In the second story, Dale's son offers a look into his father's character through a poem, 'I Know A Man.' In stories from drivers, crewmembers and fans, the impact of not only the sport but the person inside the sport are portrayed.

It has been our great honor to offer a closer view of our story gathering process by allowing readers to view the actual interviews on an enhanced CD that fits all computer platforms. For eight months last year our country possessed the first four-generation family in the history of sports, the Petty Family. In a two-month period the patriarch of the family, Lee Petty and then Adam Petty, the youngest racing member died. We talked with seven-time Winston Cup Champion, Richard Petty, and Kyle Petty, Adam's father just four months after Adam's death. In our interviews we discussed processing loss,grieving in public and the defining moments of life. We were also fortunate enough to license a Lee and Adam Tribute tape that features the 50-Year Tradition of NASCAR through the Petty Family. A 21-picture photo gallery is also included.
